COLUMBIA, Mo. – Friends of University of Missouri Extension and ag journalists have an opportunity to help fund travel for an agriculture journalism student.

Colleagues and friends of MU Extension writer and Professor Emeritus Duane Dailey established a permanently endowed fund at MU in his honor. Dailey has been a strong advocate for Missouri’s farmers and agriculture system. He graduated from MU’s College of Agriculture in 1957 with a degree in agricultural journalism and earned an M.S. in extension education in 1965.

He continues to tell the story of Missouri agriculture for the state’s land-grant university as a writer for MU Extension, a weekly newspaper columnist and a regular contributor to Missouri Ruralist magazine. For about 30 years, he has taught mid-career journalists at the annual Missouri Photo Workshop. He is a member of the prestigious Missouri Photojournalism Hall of Fame. His “Missouri Mules and Men” exhibit travels the country.

The F. Duane Dailey Student Enrichment Fund will provide travel expenses for a student to attend the North American Agricultural Journalists annual meeting and a national professional society meeting of selected agricultural disciplines. Awards go to MU students enrolled in agricultural journalism, with a preference for students interested in production agriculture and/or agriculture policy.
